Prawns pickle is undoubtedly one of the most favoured pickles. It really tastes fabulous besides having the goodness of plump prawns. Check out the recipe.
Ingredients
½ kg prawns
1 small piece ginger
10 garlic cloves
4 green chillies
2 -3 sprigs curry leaves
4 dried chillies
4 tbsp chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp fenugreek powder
½ tsp asafoetida powder
6 dates (soaked in hot water)
½ cup vinegar
3 tbsp vegetable oil
3 tbsp sesame oil
Salt as required
Preparation
Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt
Keep them aside for at least half an hour
Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated prawns
Meanwhile, heat sesame oil in another pan and splutter mustard seeds
Add curry leaves, dried chillies, ginger, garlic and green chillies
Sauté until the raw smell of these are gone
Into it add a masala paste made by mixing chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt in some water
Sauté on low flame
Now add the soaked dates
Pour vinegar and boil for a while
Finally add the fried prawns and salt as required
Mix well
Store in airtight containers after the pickle has cooled down.
