A flavoursome Punjabi corn flour flat bread popular in the northern parts of India, Makki di roti is a typical winter food.

Ingredients
1½ cup cornmeal
¼ cup wheat powder
Salt, as required
Oil, as required
6 tbsp butter

Preparation
Mix cornmeal, wheat powder and salt
Add slightly warm water little by little, mix and knead to prepare soft flour
Roll into eight or ten equal size balls and keep aside
Wet the hands and take each ball and place inside moist polythene sheet or plantain leaf and roll to 5 inch diameter
Heat a flat pan. Brush with a little oil
Gently transfer the rolled rotis to the pan
Sprinkle a little oil on the sides. Keep on low flame for one minute
Flip the roti and bake the other side as well. Bake till it is crisp in light golden brown colour
Each of the rotis can be brushed with butter and served hot along with the curry
