This is one of the basic spicy varieties of Kalkal. You can garnish the dish using grated cheese, grated coconut and oregano.

Ingredients
1 cup maida
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
¼ tsp chili powder
½ up water
Salt as required

Preparation
Mix maida, melted butter and water in a large bowl to make a soft dough
Knead well and keep fit in the bowl for an hour
Prepare and keep small gooseberry sized balls out of it
Take a fork upside down. Keep each ball at the tip of the fork and press with hand. Roll it from one end like rolling a mat
Deep fry in heated oil
Sprinkle chili powder and pepper powder
Crunchy pasta-shaped Kalkal is ready!
