Thiruvananthapuram: The scope of the First Bell digital classes broadcast through the Kite Victers edutainment channel is being expanded. From Monday to Friday, there will be seven sessions daily for Plus Two and two more sessions for standard 10.
The new timings will come into effect from next Monday. This month the virtual classes will be on every day except December 25, Christmas.
For Plus Two there will be four more classes from 4 pm to 6 pm in addition to the existing three sessions. Since there are four different subject groups at the higher-secondary level, a student may not be required to attend more than five classes.
For Plus One students the daily schedule of two sessions from 11 am to 12 pm will continue.
For standard 10, in addition to the three sessions from 9.30 am to 11 am, there will be two more classes from 3 pm to 4 pm.
The reorganisation of classes with additional hours is being done considering that students of standard 10 and 12 will have to give their board exams in a few months.
As per the new arrangement, on Saturdays and Sundays, there will be a maximum of four sessions for Plus Two students and one session (language) with options from 4 to 6 pm for standard-10 students.
On Saturday and Sunday, the classes will be for fewer hours. Special revision classes are planned for January.
Repeat telecast
For Class 10 students, there will be repeated telecast from 6 pm to 7:30 pm and 7 am to 8 am the next day from Monday through Friday, while for Plus Two students the repeat telecast will be from 7.30 pm to 11 pm daily.
Change in schedule for lower standards
For standards 8 and 9, there will be class every day at 2 pm and 2.30 pm. Those in the seventh grade will have classes at 1.30 pm on all days except Tuesdays.
The schedule for students of lower standards:
Standard 6: Tuesday (1.30 pm), Wednesday (1.00 pm) and Friday (12.30 pm).
Standard 5: At 1 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Standard 4: Mondays (1 pm), Wednesdays (12.30 pm) and Fridays (12 pm).
Standard 3: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (12.30 pm).
Standard 2: Tuesdays and Thursdays (12 pm).
Standard 1: Mondays and Wednesdays (12 pm).
Kite CEO K. Anwar Sadat said the special classes will be telecast for lower standards once the virtual classes for standard 10 and plus two are completed in January.
The First Bell education broadcast started in Kerala on June 1, 2020, as schools were shut as part of the lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
So far 4,400 classes have been broadcast on the dedicated TV channel.
