At a time when even flight tickets are generally affordable for the middle class, the rates of food and beverages in airports still continue to be exorbitant. Even a simple coffee can cost more than Rs 100, and snacks, breakfast, and other meals too often quote extremely high prices. However, the government initiative named Udaan Yatri Cafe, which was launched first in the Kolkata airport in December last year is now breaking the norm. The cafe, where a cup of tea is available for Rs 10, also offers coffee and samosa for Rs 20. You can also get a bottle of water for Rs 10, sweets for Rs 20 and a vada for Rs 20. Recently, AAP's Raghav Chadha also appreciated the Centre's initiative, sharing photos of the menu from the cafe at Chennai airport.

Currently, the cafe is functioning in three airports of the country including Ahmedabad, which was launched a week ago. As per reports, it will be opened next in Delhi. The walk-in cafes are often located in the pre-check areas of domestic terminals, so that passengers can access them easily. In Chennai, the cafe is also run by specially-abled people.
