Thiruvananthapuram: The route and timing of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) services are being included in Google Maps.
The city circular services in Thiruvananthapuram have been added on a trial basis. This would be available on the public transport in Google Maps. When the destination is entered, the information would be available immediately .
After the information of the city circular buses has been fully included, the details of the long-distance services such as the SWIFT services would be entered onto Google Maps. The decision is to add the routes of all the KSRTC buses on Google Maps later on.
The Thiruvananthapuram city circular buses have been arranged in colours such as magenta, yellow, green, orange and red. These were included in Google Maps as the commuters found it difficult to identify the routes of these services that ply in the city.
Once the GPS in the buses become operational, the commuters would be able to find out the location of the bus from Google Maps, according to Biju Prabhakar, the Transport Secretary and Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the KSRTC.
After this is implemented in the SWIFT services as well, the commuters can avoid the hassle of turning up early at the bus stop and waiting for the long-distance services.
