The Vellinezhi panchayat in Palakkad district of Kerala has set up a garden that is replete with multi-coloured and resplendent butterflies. The Adakkaputhur Samskriti butterfly garden, which is near the state highway, was established in front of the panchayat office with the money the panchayat got after it was adjudged the best Biodiversity Management Committee by the Kerala State Biodiversity Board.

P K Sasi MLA inaugurated the butterfly garden by planting a sapling on World Environment Day. A habitat for butterflies was created as the garden has a rich flora that helps butterflies survive and reproduce.
