Robots now serve customers at a restaurant in Kochi. Four robots, Tara, Susie, Anna and Heba, are the new staff at Thakkaaram restaurant in Palarivattom.
The robots, who have arrived in Kochi from China, are busy in their jobs. While Tara receives the customers, the other robots work as waiters. Thakkaaram is the first restaurant in Kochi and the second in Kerala to utilize the service of robots.
The owners of Thakkaaram had earlier introduced several interesting innovations to attract customers. For instance, while their restaurant in Thiruvananathapuram resembles an aircraft, another one in Dubai looks like a lorry and that in Kochi is designed like a bus.
In the Malabar Mappila (Muslim) lingo, 'Thakkaram' is not just a noun that denotes the feast-like fare served to the guests. It is a whole culture that offers a royal treatment to every guest, not just the new bridegroom, who crosses the threshold of your home. Housewives whip up the fanciest spread that fills up huge dining tables. And, 'Thakkaram' offers a lip-smacking array of exotic fare from this culinary culture of north Kerala.
'Pothirachi Cheenachattiyil Vattichathu,' 'Kozhi Veluthilli Kachiyathu,' 'Mankudukka Biryani,' 'Punnara Pathumma Kurukki Vattichathu,' 'Kizhi Kettiya Kozhi,' 'Muttamala' (Egg garland) are their popular dishes.
