KSU called for the strike, alleging that Students' Federation of India (SFI) members attacked its leaders.
Vaiga Nath K J, a third-year student of architecture, was elected the chairperson of the student union, while Fatima Farhath M Z won as the vice chairperson.
KSU claims that SFI concealed the ballots after winning two seats. In response, SFI State Secretary P M Arsho alleged that KSU stole the ballots.
As per reports, 20 KSU workers and three SFI activists were also booked in the incident.
They secured 12 out of 16 seats, with Muhammed Hisham Muneer elected as Chairman and Husnul Muneer as General Secretary.
The election, scheduled for June 29, will see UDSF candidates, comprising MSF and KSU, contesting in 13 out of the 16 seats.
Minister V Sivankutty stated in the assembly on Monday that of the 82,642 applicants in Malappuram, only 17,298 remain without a seat.
SFI members have allegedly attacked the KSU unit president Jasir after the unit was formed. KSU plans to field candidates for the first time since the college started functioning in 1993.
KSU called the strike after a protest march led to a scuffle with the police, resulting in the arrest of 21 of its activists.
The committee has been asked to submit the report by Sunday evening, said Congress sources.
