Harshitha pulls out gold for Kerala from the swimming pool

Kerala pulled out gold for Kerala in the 38th National Games from the swimming pool in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, on Thursday. Harshitha Jayaram claimed gold in the Women's 200 m breaststroke.
Harshitha clocked 2:42.38 to finish ahead of Shreenithi Natesan of Tamil Nadu (2:42.44) and Divyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan of Odisha (2:45.56). Harshitha holds the Games record of 2:40.62, which she set two years ago in Goa.
This was Kerala's third medal from the pool and fourth overall in the Games. Weightlifter Sufna Jamin P S clinched gold in the Women's 45kg category early on the day. Ace swimmer Sajan Prakash opened Kerala's account with a pair of bronze medals on the opening day.
Kerala are eighth in the points table, while Karnataka are in front with 12 medals, including 7 gold. Manipur are second on 11 medals, comprising 6 gold and five silver. Maharashtra have secured 23 medals so far, including 4 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze to be third in the points table.
