Sydney: India captain Jasprit Bumrah has made returned to the dressing room after undergoing precautionary scans for an unidentified niggle.
The injury had forced him to leave the field on the second day of the fifth Test on Saturday. Bumrah, the star pacer, bowled just one over in the post-lunch session before feeling discomfort, which appeared to be a side strain, reported PTI.
Bumrah was absent from the field for over three hours, but his return quelled concerns within the Indian team ahead of Australia's second innings, where his presence would be vital in defending the target. During his absence, senior batter Virat Kohli took charge of the team.
Having taken 32 wickets in the series, Bumrah had figures of 2/33 in 10 overs at the time of his departure, having dismissed Marnus Labuschagne with a peach of a delivery earlier in the morning session.
Before leaving the field, Bumrah spoke to Kohli, and later, official broadcasters showed him exiting the venue with the team doctor and security liaison officer.
