Thrissur: A complaint has been filed about a dead lizard found inside a samosa purchased from a shop at the Irinjalakuda bus stand on Thursday. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Sini Rajesh, a resident of Anandapuram, visited the "Bubble Tea" shop on Koodalmanikyam Road with her son for tea. She bought two samosas as a takeaway for her daughter.
At home, while her daughter was eating one of the samosas, a lizard was found inside. Rajesh reported the issue to the Irinjalakuda health department.
Upon investigation, health officials found that the shop did not prepare the samosas on-site but sourced them from "Kallamkunnu AB Food Products." An inspection of the production unit revealed that its employees did not possess valid health cards. Officials have directed the unit to suspend operations until all workers obtain the required health certifications.
The Irinjalakuda Health Department has forwarded the complaint to the Food Safety Authority, which will determine further action based on its findings.
