Kalpetta: A man and a woman were found hanging from two branches of the same tree near a resort in Vythiri on Tuesday morning. The bodies were found by resort employees, who immediately alerted the police.

The deceased have been identified as Pramod (54) of Naderi and Bincy (34) of Ulliyeri, hailing from Kozhikode district. Their identities were confirmed using copies of identity cards submitted at the resort.

The Vythiri police are conducting an inquest, which is still underway. After the procedure, the bodies will be shifted to either Sulthan Bathery or Mananthavady for postmortem examinations. After the post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to their families. Police have stated that, prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide.

Both Pramod and Bincy were married to other people and leading separate family lives. Further details are being collected from the respective police stations near the victims' homes.
