Kochi: The court granted bail for Nigosh Kumar, the owner of Mridanga Vision, in connection with the fall of Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas on Friday.

The Palarivattom police on Thursday arrested Nigosh Kumar after he surrendered at the station as per the directive of the Kerala High Court. He was interrogated for seven and a half hours before he was booked.

Kumar faces charges under Sections 125 (actions endangering personal safety), 125(b) (causing grievous hurt), and 3(5) (joint criminal liability) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), in addition to Section 118(e) (endangering public safety) of the Kerala Police Act, 2011. 

Shalu Vincent, a member of the MLA’s personal staff, filed the complaint. The police are recording the statements of other individuals involved in the case, including Divya Unni, who led the performance. Since the actor-dancer has returned to the US, her statement will be recorded via videoconferencing.

The incident occurred on December 29, when Uma Thomas fell from the gallery during a mega Bharatanatyam performance by 12,000 dancers. It was an attempt to set a Guinness World Record.
