Kochi brothel case: 2 policemen suspended

Kochi: The home department on Wednesday suspended two policemen for operating a brothel under the guise of a lodge at Kadavanthra here. Kochi traffic Assistant Sub Inspector Ramesh and Civil Police Officer Brijesh from Palarivattom police station were suspended from service a day after Kadavanthra police recorded their arrest in the immoral trafficking case.
According to Kadavanthra police, the involvement of the two cops in the operation of the brothel was confirmed. The probe team recorded their arrest on Tuesday night. The Kadavanthra SHO told the media that benamis of the cops were operating the lodge named Dreams Residency.
The Kadavanthra police conducted a raid at the lodge on October 2, 2024, during which several men and women were arrested for immoral trafficking. The police probe into the sex racket found that the accused in custody transferred money to the bank accounts of the ASI and CPO. Following this, the Kadavanthra police arrested the duo. The two officers were taken into custody following detailed investigation, and they are currently being interrogated, said the police. The probe team added that involvement of more officials is being investigated.
