Malappuram: Nilambur MLA P V Anvar has raised scathing allegations against the state government, accusing it of orchestrating a cover-up to ensure the promotion of ADGP Ajith Kumar to the post of DGP.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Anvar alleged that the state government deliberately avoided registering FIRs on complaints involving Ajith Kumar to shield him from technical issues on the path to his elevation to the state's highest police post.
The MLA in his social media post, also called out CPI's hypocrisy in demanding disciplinary action against Ajith Kumar. He claimed that CPI postured themselves as strongly opposing Ajith Kumar while privately supporting the cabinet decision favouring the police officer.
"It was not only me, the CPI candidate in the Thrissur Lok Sabha election himself, raised concerns about the issues related to Thrissur pooram, where a deliberate attempt was made as per the direction of Ajith Kumar to disrupt the festival," the MLA said.
"The government's agenda to shield Ajith Kumar at any cost is evident," he added, reiterating his demand for a judicial inquiry. He urged the public to rise against what he described as a blatant disregard for justice and transparency.
"Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his political secretary P Sasi have prioritised Ajith Kumar's promotion over addressing these serious allegations. The police force is being misused to protect the ADGP, even when overwhelming evidence has been submitted to investigative agencies," Anvar said.
Anvar raised concerns regarding the ADGP's purchase and sale of a luxury flat in Kowdiar, which was reportedly done through illegal cash transactions. He claimed that the documents submitted to authorities reveal that the property was bought for Rs 33.8 lakh and resold for Rs 65 lakh within ten days, bypassing banking channels and raising suspicions of money laundering.
The MLA also pointed to Ajith Kumar's alleged connections with gold smugglers operating through Kozhikode Airport. Anvar, in his post, highlighted that individuals with key information about these activities, including those linked to the custodial death of Thamir Jifri in August 2023 and the mysterious shooting death of Ridan Basil, have either disappeared or been silenced under questionable circumstances.
