New Delhi: The Lok Sabha adjourned on Wednesday following a heated exchange when TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee made remarks against Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, reported PTI.

The disagreement began during a discussion on proposed amendments to the Disaster Management Act. Banerjee accused the central government of failing to cooperate with states during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai countered the claim, emphasising that Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended assistance to all states and effectively managed the crisis with a collaborative approach.

Rai also alleged that the West Bengal government obstructed the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines within its jurisdiction. Supporting Rai, Scindia remarked, "India had emerged as a ‘Vishwa Bandhu’ during the pandemic and helped all the needy countries across the world."

Banerjee responded by criticising Scindia and making comments that were later removed from the record by Speaker Om Birla.
