Avoid these fruits when pregnant; here's why

Regardless, a healthy pregnancy calls for an added 300 calories every day to handle nausea, constipation and other issues. Doctors often recommend including many fruits in the diet of pregnant women, including bananas, apricots, oranges, grapefruit, cantaloupe, pears, pomegranates, avocados, guava, apples, berries and dried fruit. However, there are also fruits that pregnant women should avoid as they can cause vaginal bleeding or even miscarriage. Here are a few of them, according to Apollocradle:
Papaya
Unripe or medium-ripe papayas contain a uterine stimulant called latex, and apparently, it can induce contractions, which can even cause miscarriages. It can also trigger rashes, breathing issues, and allergies in certain women. Diarrhoea, bloating and stomach discomfort are a few other issues that can be caused by papaya, which can also affect the embryo's development. Soon after delivery, whether they have a c-section or a normal delivery, women can eat papayas, and they can also be good for handling post-partum issues and breastfeeding.
Pineapple
Small amounts of pineapple are generally considered fine as they can be a good fibre and vitamin C source. However, the enzyme named 'bromelain' in pineapple can soften the cervix, which can, at times, cause premature labour. Its acidic nature and the possibility of triggering allergies are reasons to be careful while consuming the fruit during pregnancy.
Grapes
The antioxidant named 'resveratrol' that's present in grapes can disrupt the hormone balance in pregnant women. Often, grapes are likely to absorb more pesticides and are even coated with thick wax for a longer shelf life. Their presence can also cause acid reflux and heartburn. If washed well and eaten in moderation, they can still be a good source of vitamins. After the first trimester, they are comparatively safer to consume as the risk of miscarriage is low.
Other fruits considered risky
Pregnant women should exercise caution while eating starfruit, lychee, figs, tamarind, and passion fruit. They should also avoid fruits that aren't washed or stored properly in a hygienic setting. If possible, always pick fruits that can be peeled so that you can do away with the pollutants on the skin.
