Bollywood diva Rakul Preet Singh recently suffered a serious back injury at the gym. She sustained an 80 kg deadlift injury without wearing a supportive belt. Even though she felt severe back pain, the actress ignored it and continued her workout, which aggravated the injury. Rakul updated her fans about her health condition through her Instagram story. “I did something foolish. I didn’t listen to my body. I had a spasm and kept pushing it, turned into a major injury and I have been in bed for the last six days. I think it will take another week or so for me to fully recover. Thank you so much for all your prayers and wishes,” Rakul wrote. Rakul often shares her workout videos from the gym on her social media handle. Despite the injury, she continued to shoot for her latest movie.

Deadlifting is a full-body strength development workout that focuses on various muscle groups and can improve your posture and functional movements. There are many kinds of deadlifts, such as conventional lifter bends, sumo, Romanian, and trap bar deadlifts. It's important to perform it safely to avoid injury. While doing workouts like deadlifts, it is better to do it under the guidance of a trainer. Besides, using a supportive belt and ensuring correct body postures is important to avoid injuries. What are some of the other precautions to take while doing a deadlift?
1) Place the deadlift bar properly on the ground. Grip it just outside your knees on either side with an easy yet tight, controlled grip.
2) Take a deep breath before lifting. Brace your core, keep a neutral spine without rounding your back and set your chest up with your shoulders.

4) Lower the bar slowly by first hinging at your hips. After that, bend your knees as you set it back down.
5) Do not take weights you can't handle. Begin the routine with simple weights until you correct your form. Progress into heavier weights only if your technique is right.
