Udayan and Rajalekshmi had bought the 40 cents plot in Nooranadu a few years ago. The level of the plot came below the ground level around them after the couple had sold soild from here. It was only when Udayan decided to build a house here that the level of the plot posed a challenge. However, engineer Bhadran and his daughter Beta who is an architect overcame it by designing the house in such a way to suit the uneven ground of the plot.
Elevation
The roof paved with shingles is one of the eye-catching features of this house. There are two entrances, one directly to the living room and the other through the office space. The office room, the sit out in front of it and the master bedroom are built on the raised level of the plot. One can enter this area from the beautiful lawn which is raised by increasing the height of the plinth.
Basement area
The slanting lawn is raised significantly from the ground level. There is a car porch, utility room, electrical room and toilet below it. This area could also be converted into a bedroom in the future. Wooden paneling is done on the pillars in the sit out.
Living area
A false ceiling with wood and POP was done as per the wishes of the family members. Beautifully done lighting add to the elegance of the area. Exquisite marble brought from Banglore makes a glossy floor in the interiors. All the furniture was newly bought. A clear view of the courtyard and patio from the living area is possible through the glass doors. One can even enter the patio through the glass doors. A partition of glass pillars separates the living and the dining areas.
Dining room
One can enter the patio and courtyard from the dining area. A stairway from here leads to the basement as well. The hand rails on the stairway have a unique design with teak wood and glass pillars.
Patio
The beautiful patio is one of the unique features of the house. There are glass doors through which one can enter the patio from the dining and living areas. The water fountain on the walls of the patio is a distinct feature here. The deck wood floor, green lawn and pebbles paved in between enhance the charm of this area.
Bedrooms
There are four bedrooms in the house. The master bedroom is on the mezzanine level. The wardrobes are done in teak wood. The wardrobe in one of the bedrooms is in plastic wood composite. The false ceiling in POP and stone veneer is highlighted using spotlights.
Courtyard
The courtyard lets in ample natural light into the interiors. There are long windows made with SS pipes adjacent to the courtyard. Facing the courtyard is the pooja room which is entirely made in wood. There is a small attic window above the yard on the first floor.
