Palakkad: The funeral of Alan Joseph (22), who was killed in a wild elephant attack at Kayaramkodu in Mundur, was held on Tuesday. 

Alan, a native of Kayaramkodu, was walking with his mother, Viji when the wild elephant attacked them. His mother, who sustained injuries to the spine, shoulder blades and ear, is currently undergoing treatment at the Thrissur Government Medical College.

The mortal remains were brought to his residence in Kannadanchola by 8 am. Viji was taken to their residence to pay her last respects to her son. 

Ann Mary Joseph, Alan's sister, said that further treatment for Viji is yet to be decided due to her poor health.

After the public viewing, the funeral was held at the Church of God India cemetery in Mailampully by 2 pm.
