Radish may not be the most popular of vegetable in our kitchens, but it is one of the healthiest. Though not everyone likes radish due to its pungent and peppery elements, it comes with a host of health benefits. The fiber content in the vegetable, for instance, helps in digestion and addresses all issues related to your stomach. A rich source of Vitamin C and folic acid, it also prevents heart-related diseases to a great extent, aids the immune system, and helps in many body functions. People consuming radish regularly have a low chance of developing blood pressure, cholesterol, and obesity. Let’s try preparing radish thoran, which can be combined with both boiled rice and chapathi.

Ingredients
2 radishes along with their leaves
25-gram kadala parippu (split chickpea)
4 green chillies
1 onion
5 pods garlic
Grated coconut (as required)
½ teaspoon chilli powder
1 pinch turmeric powder
Dried chillies, coconut oil, mustard seeds, and curry leaves (as needed)

Preparation
Peel and grate radish
Slice their leaves thinly
Cook the chickpea grams
Heat oil in a pan and add in mustard, curry leaves, and red chillies
Sauté till it turns golden and add the sliced onion, green chillies, and garlic
Keep frying till it turns brown and add chilly powder and turmeric powder into the mix
Put the grated radish into a vessel, cover it with a lid, and cook it in steam
Add in the chickpea and salt, stir well, and steam-cook it for some more time
Lastly, add the grated coconut and toss it well
Serve it hot with boiled rice or chapati
