Noted Tamil film maker Vignesh Shivan, in an Instagram interaction with his fans, said that ghee rice and chicken curry were his favourite dishes prepared by Nayanthara. Here is how to prepare fragrant ghee rice that is loved by vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Ingredients
1 cup jeerakasala / kaima rice
1 ½ litres water
4 tbsp ghee
8 cashews (halved)
2 tbsp raisins
1 onion (chopped)
½ tsp fennel seeds
2 small cinnamon sticks
6 cloves
4 cardamom pods
2 chopped onions
Salt as required

Preparation
Wash the rice and soak for half an hour
Meanwhile, boil water in a vessel
Cook the soaked rice with some salt in the boiling water
Strain the rice after it is cooked perfectly
Heat ghee in a pan
Fry the cashews and raisins
Fry onions too
Set them aside to be used later
Heat some more ghee in the same pan
Roast the fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom pods for a minute
Into it add chopped onions and salt as required
Sauté well
Now add the boiled rice and some ghee
Mix well
Garnish the ghee rice with fried cashews, raisins and onions
Enjoy the ghee rice with vegetarian or non vegetarian curries.
