Sambar is one of the most popular traditional Indian dishes that are not just delicious but healthy and nutritious too. Sambar is a South Indian lentil & mix vegetable stew that is eaten along with idly, dosa or with plain rice. Spice powder is key to make a good Tamil style sambar. Let's see how to prepare Tamil style sambar at home. 

Ingredients
50 gms whole coriander
50 gms red chillies (Kashmiri and red chillies)
2 tb chana dal
2 tb toor dal
2 tb cumin
2 tb rice
2 tb fenugreek
2 tb urad dal
1/2 tb asafoetida powder
1/2 tb turmeric powder

Preparation
Fry ingredients from 1-8 one by one (fry without adding any oil)
This method of frying will help preserve the powder for a longer time
After that, when it cools down, put it in a mixer, add asafoetida powder and turmeric powder and grind it well
Keep the powder on a flat surface or plate to cool it off
After that, it can be stored in an airtight container for days or months.
