Sweet and soft chocolate Swiss roll is the perfect dessert to enjoy after an elaborate Christmas meal. Here is how you could prepare the delicious chocolate Swiss roll at home.
Ingredients
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup + 1 tsp cocoa powder
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 eggs
¾ cup powdered sugar
For the buttercream filling
½ cup unsalted butter
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
Preparation
Sift the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder and baking powder into a bowl
Meanwhile, beat the egg whites and powdered sugar in another bowl until they are frothy
Into it add the egg yolks, vanilla essence and vegetable oil
Beat well
Now add the sieved dry ingredients into the egg mix
Fold well
Place a sheet of butter paper in a 12 x 14 inches baking tray; sprinkle some all-purpose flour on the butter paper
Pour the batter and spread evenly using a spatula
Bake the sponge for 15-20 minutes in an oven preheated at 180 degree Celsius
To make the buttercream, beat the unsalted butter and powdered sugar in a bowl
Take two sheets of butter paper and sprinkle some powdered sugar on them
Flip the cake onto one of the sheets; now flip it onto the next sheet
Spread the buttercream evenly all over the cake
Roll the sponge into a cylinder by holding the butter paper
Refrigerate the Chocolate Swiss roll for at least 30 minutes before serving.
