A 50-year-old woman who kissed a member of the iconic Korean boy band BTS has landed in legal trouble. The woman identified as a Japanese citizen kissed the singer on his cheek without his consent, during a public appearance of the band.
The South Korean police has now issued a summon against the woman who is currently in Japan. She has been asked to appear for questioning on charges of sexual harassment.
The incident happened at the Free Hug event that was held in Seoul last year. The BTS idol had hugged hundreds of fans who had won the chance to attend the program in a raffle. Instead of hugging the BTS star, the woman, who is believed to be in her 50s, kissed him on his face, visibly startling the singer.
Angered by this incident, a BTS fan filed a criminal complaint, leading to the launch of a police investigation. Meanwhile, the police haven’t revealed any details of the case. The Free Hug event was the first public appearance of the singer after completing the mandatory 18 – month military service.
