Thiruvananthapuram: Curtains will come down on the 29th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram this evening. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the valedictory function at Nisagandhi Auditorium at 6 pm. The chief minister will honour filmmaker Payal Kapadia with the Spirit of Cinema Award for winning the Grand Prix Award at Cannes Film Festival for her much appreciated film ‘All We Imagine as Light’. Suvarna Chakoram (The Golden Crow Pheasant) Award for best film, Rajata Chakoram (The Silver Crow Pheasant) for the best director and best debut director, audience prize for best film, FIPRESCI awards for best film and best Malayalam film, NETPAC awards for best Asian film and best Malayalam film and FFSI K R Mohanan award for best debut director from India will be distributed at the event.

Culture and Film Minister Saji Cherian will chair the function. Armenian filmmakers Serge Avedikian and Nora Armani will be honoured on the occasion by Revenue Minister K Rajan and Education Minister V Sivankutty.
The film winning the Suvarna Chakoram Award will receive a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh. The director of the second best fill will get a cash award of Rs 4 lakh and the best debutant director Rs 3 lakh. K R Mohanan Endowment winner will be awarded Rs 1 lakh. The director of the best film selected by audience through voting will get a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.

The Rhythm of Dammam, a Konkani/Kannada film by Jayan Cherian, Body, a Hindi film by Abhijit Mazumdar, Feminist Fathima by Fasil Muhammed and Appuram by Indu Lakshmi, which represent Malayalam cinema.
