Malayali movie lovers still remember yesteryear actress Zeenath for her endearing roles in some of the super hit movies. Now, the veteran actress is in the news for a lovely message that she posted on her Facebook page to congratulate her son, a debutant film maker whose movie ‘A Thing of Magic’ grabbed attention at the recent Mumbai film festival. Her son Nithin Anil has made his directorial debut through the Marati film industry. Zeenath, in her post, expresses her happiness for her son’s incredible achievement. She also seeks apology for not supporting him enough in the beginning.

Zeenath begins her Facebook post by admitting her failure to understand her son’s passion for cinema. The actress wrote that she was surprised and felt incredible pride when her son’s Marati movie ‘A Thing of Magic’ had won accolades at the MAMI film festival held in Mumbai. “I feel regret as well because I never imagined he would achieve such a huge honor. When he, along with a few friends, had decided to catch a train to Maharashtra to make a movie, that too with just a small amount of money at hand, I tried to discourage him. I told him that it was an unachievable dream and advised him to look for some other job or even enroll for higher studies. I pestered him saying that it was important for boys to have a proper job and that it wouldn’t do him any good if he gets crazy about cinema,” continues Zeenath.

The actress says that Nithin had asked her to give him some time to make the movie and prove himself. When she asked him how much time he needed, Nithin replied that he needed at least six months to make it happen. He even promised that he would take up a regular job or continue studies if he fails in it. Zeenath admits that she gave her nod only with a reluctant mind.

She, however, continued bothering him and asked from where he would find the money other than the pocket money that he gets from his father. Nithin then said that he would make the money that was required to shoot his project. He even vowed that he would make her change her words.

Zeenath continues that she was quite stunned when Nithin said he was leaving the next week for the shooting of his maiden movie. “He had studied journalism with media studies as his main subject. He writes well and had even begun some freelance writing, sitting at home. He saved small amounts of money and had a small bank balance as well. However, I was still skeptical because you need crores of rupees to make a movie. He told, ‘Everything will work out Mumma’. When I kept badgering about the plot of his movie, he narrated just a small part of the story. Though not very happy, I bid him adieu. I honestly hadn’t taken it seriously until then. I supported him only for the sake of extending my support to my child’s desires. I thought that he was merely doing something along with his few friends. But, as he had promised, he came back after successfully making the movie. And now, their movie has found a top spot in the Mumbai film festival,” wrote Zeenath.

“My dear son, as you have said, I accept my defeat. I feel incredible pride seeing your passion for cinema. I wish that you reach greater heights. Even if you achieve the greatest honor, do not allow yourself to change your attitudes or beliefs. Be thyself at all situations and circumstances; that is all I wish,” says the actress addressing her son.

Zeenath conclude her Facebook post by seeking the blessings of her followers for her son and his future endeavors.
