Kochi: It's official -- 'Lucifer 2' is here, and it's titled 'Empuraan'.

The sequel to the Mohanlal-starrer, which reportedly entered the Rs 200-crore club for the first time in Malayalam, was announced by director Prithviraj Sukumaran here on Tuesday.

The film will be more or less like a prequel and sequel of 'Lucifer', Prithviraj told media persons at the residence of Mohanlal here. He did not elaborate on the details.

Talking about the title, Prithviraj said 'Empuraan' means "someone who is more than a king and less than god".

The shooting will start next year. However, the release date has not been decided yet.

Kerala will be the main location of the film, Prithviraj said.

Mohanlal, producer Antony Perumbavoor and scriptwriter Murali Gopy also attended the press meet.

Mohanlal played Abram Qureishi, an underworld don, who is known as Stephen Nedumpally, a politician, in Kerala in Lucifer. The multi-starrer project featured Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Prithviraj and Manju Warrier in key roles.
