Actress Swetha Menon recalled her first love affair in a recent interview given to a Malayalam magazine. She also disclosed her regret about the subsequent marriage.
“My first wedding with Bobby was the biggest mistake of my life,” said Swetha.
Recalling her earlier days with ex-husband Bobby Bhonsle, Swetha Menon said, “Such a thing should never have happened. That marriage would never have taken place if my father were a strict person.”
Further she added, “I was raised with a freedom that a boy enjoyed. My father and mother never wanted that a girl like me should limit herself to the four walls of a house. They wanted that I should work and live independently.”
“I wished they were there along with me to guide me when I was in Mumbai doing modeling and films. When I returned home after work, I was alone. It was thus that was I fell in love for the very first time,” she said.
Confessing how Swetha's father late Naranankutty was hesitant to get her married to Bobby, she said, “When I was adamant about getting married to him, my father used to tell me that I will regret later in my life. It was on the engagement day that my father came to Mumbai for the ceremony. He asked me if I had anything to talk to him. Now, as I think about that moment, I feel he knew a situation like divorce would come up.”
After divorce with Bobby, Swetha got married to Sreevalsan Menon in 2011. She had her first child, a daughter, Sabaina Menon in 2012.
Talking about the rumours about divorce with Menon, she said, “Initially, I used to respond to such news. Now, I have learnt to laugh off such matters. Suck fake news comes every now and then as if people are waiting for my divorce.”
