The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results for the first edition of the JEE-Main 2025 on Tuesday. Out of the more than 12.58 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam, 14 achieved a perfect NTA score of 100.
The highest number of perfect scorers, five, are from Rajasthan, followed by two each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra, reported PTI.
Among them, Akshay Biju from Kuryakose Elias English Medium School in Kozhikode emerged as Kerala's topper with a score of 99.99605.
According to NTA officials, the NTA score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained but normalised scores. "The NTA score is a normalised score, not based on the percentage of marks, but on the relative performance of all candidates who appeared for the exam in each session," explained a senior NTA official. The marks are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session.
The exam was conducted in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. It was also held in 15 cities outside India, including Manama, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Kuwait City, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, West Java, Washington, Lagos, and Munich.
While the first edition of the exam was held in January-February, the second edition is scheduled for April. The results of both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE-Main will determine which candidates are shortlisted for the JEE-Advanced exam, the final step for admission into the 23 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
After both sessions of the JEE-Main 2025 exam, candidates' ranks will be announced, considering the best of their two NTA scores, in line with the established policy.
