Thrissur: In an effort to perpetuate the memories of former president and statesman K R Narayanan, a museum would be set up at the K R Narayanan Memorial Hall in Muthuvara soon. The exhibits at the museum will include personal belongings of Nararyanan, who was also a diplomat, member of parliament, minister at the centre and vice president.

A parcel van arrived in Thrissur from New Delhi with 19 big cartons of Narayanan's memorabilia. The cartons contain among other items photographs from the former president's schooldays, text of his speeches as president, other photos and the gift the parliament gave him on his send-off. Another valuable item is the national flag used to drape Narayanan's body.

The parcels were despatched from New Delhi by K C Jayaraj, a native of Mahe who had worked as Narayanan's private secretary for 20 years. Incidentally, Jayaraj is the grandson of I K Kumaran, a freedom fighter who was known as 'Mayyazhi Gandhi' (Mahe's Gandhi).

The cartons were received by former District Congress Committee president and MLA T V Chandramohan at his house in Thrissur.

Narayanan had represented the erstwhile Ottappalam seat in Parliament and Muthuvara falls in that constituency.
