Delhi Metro to become world's longest metro network, surpassing New York, with 'Golden Line': Facilities, routes, inauguration

The Delhi Metro will set a new global record by the end of this year when its phase-four 26 km stretch is inaugurated. With the new phase, Golden Line, the metro system will surpass the 399 km New York metro to be the longest metro network in a single city, with more than 450 km in total length. The new phase will improve connectivity across South Delhi, shorten travel time, and improve accessibility and connectivity. It has various colour-coded lines called Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Violet, Pink, Magenta, Grey, and Airport Express Lines to provide high-speed links between routes. Meanwhile, the stations planned along the Golden Line are the Terminal 1-IGI Airport, Delhi Aerocity, Manipalpur, Vasant Kunj, Kishangarh, Chhatarpur, Chhatarpur Mandir, IGNOU, Neb Sarai, Saket G-Block, Ambedkar Nagar, Khanpur, Sangam Vihar - Tigri, Anandmayee Marg, Pul Pehladpur and Tughlakabad.
New facilities and inauguration
Here are some of the new facilities and features to be launched to enhance the commuter experience at the Delhi Metro Golden Line:
1) For the first time in the network, an underground interchange station will be built at Tughlakabad. It will be 23 metres deep and have a parking area that can accommodate 250 vehicles.
2) Eco-friendly practices like rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient systems.
3) Advanced safety protocols like platform screen doors at stations to prevent accidents.
4) Tactile tiles to assist visually impaired passengers
5) According to reports, the inauguration is expected either in December this year or March next year.
