The Indian swimmers drew a blank at the Asian Games.
The quartet of Srihari Nataraj, Likhith Selvaraj, Sajan Prakash and Tanish George Mathew bettered the 3:40.84 timing set earlier in heat 1 in the day, clocking 3:40.20 in the final.
Sajan and Hashika thus took their gold medal haul to five and six respectively.
Sajan also clinched bronze in the 800m freestyle.
Sajan was expected to take gold in all three events he competed, but ws not at his best as he hasn't regained full fitness after recovering from COVID-19.
Indian men's table tennis team will be in action in their semifinal on Monday.
Sajan Prakash and Srihari Natraj will be action in swimming.
India will take on Pakistan in badminton mixed team event.
Apart from Sajan and Srihari, fast-rising Delhi swimmer Kushagra Rawat and Madhya Pradesh's Advait Page will be making their debut at the quadrennial event.
The two-time Olympian, who is coming off a shoulder injury, was ranked 25th in the overall list.
