The Thiruvananthapuram – Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express broke down at Shorannur and continued its journey with the help of a regular electrical engine.
Passengers were stranded inside the train as the doors remained locked, and the air conditioning system was turned off.
Passengers have also suggested installing washbasins outside the toilets on Vande Bharat trains.
The new, longer trains will replace the Vande Bharat trains' existing white-blue colour combination with a grey-black-orange combination.

The train covers 650 km between Tirunelveli and Chennai at a speed of 83 km/hr in 7.5 hours.

The Vande Bharat trains will provide tourists visiting Kerala with the opportunity to explore the state’s natural beauty and rich culture while travelling across a variety of destinations.
The Vande Bharat service was on till August 26.
The Railway Board is expected to send a formal letter to the Southern Railway and the state government soon.
