The state election commission has declared bypolls in 23 gram panchayat wards, three municipality wards, four block panchayat wards and a district panchayat ward.
A total of 1,375 wards have been added across 941 panchayats, raising the total number of wards from 15,962 to 17,337.
The COVID-19 situation, and spendings on pre-monsoon clearing activities, made the situation worse this time.
