Kerala Police humbled Kerala Blasters 3-1 in the Kerala Premier League (KPL) at Kunnamkulam on April 2. Striker Sajeesh E scored a brace in the second half as the Police team bounced back from a goal down to beat the Blasters.

Muhammed Jasim put the Blasters ahead in the 20th minute before Sujil N S (40) equalised. The Police team went ahead for the first time when an attempt from the edge of the box fell kindly for Sajeesh, who hammered in from six yards out.

Sajeesh displayed his poacher skills for the third goal, skipping away from the marker before timing his run to meet a perfect cross from Gokul S. The win has moved the Police team into third position with 12 points from 7 matches.

The Blasters languish in the 11th position with 8 points from as many rounds, having won just two games. The Blasters, who play their first team in the Indian Super League, field their reserves squad in the KPL, which is Kerala's premier men's football league.

The Blasters had a disappointing campaign in the ISL, failing to make the playoffs after three seasons. The club appointed Spaniard David Catala as head coach for the next ISL season, but he will start working with the Super Cup to be held later this month.
