Kochi Police on Wednesday took businessman Boby Chemmannur into custody for making repeated sexually inappropriate remarks that demeaned womanhood. He was apprehended at his resort - Boche 1000 Acre - in Meppadi, Wayanad, and taken to the AR camp at Puthurvayal before being transported to Kochi.

Malayalam actor Honey Rose filed a complaint against the businessman-philanthropist, who also goes by the name Boche, with the Ernakulam Central Police on Tuesday.

A case was registered against Chemmannur under Section 75(4) (sexually coloured remarks) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material through electronic media) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Manorama News reported that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan spoke to the actor directly about her complaints. In her initial response, Rose called the police action 'comforting'.

In her complaint, Rose highlighted the sexual harassment she faced during the inauguration of Chemmanur's jewellery store in Alakode, Kannur, on August 7. She further detailed the difficulties she encountered on various platforms following the incident. Cases were also registered against 20 YouTubers.

On Tuesday, the actor said it was her decision to keep her identity public. “The insults were made directly in my name. I see no reason to conceal my identity when I’m raising this issue,” she asserted.
