The government has published the draft list of beneficiaries for the first phase of the township project, which is being prepared for those affected by the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide.

In the first phase, 388 families have been included in the list. The government has also notified that objections to the list should be submitted within 15 days.

In the first phase, families who lost their homes in the disaster and those who were residing in rented houses, sheds and who have no other house have been included. The draft list is available for review on the websites lsgkerala.gov.in and wayanad.gov.in.

Those residing in danger-prone zones identified as uninhabitable will be considered in the second phase of the rehabilitation.

Help desks have been set up at the Vellarimala village office and Meppadi grama panchayat office to examine the details in the published draft list.

Objections regarding the draft list will be accepted until 5 pm on January 10, 2025. They can be submitted through the Vaithiri taluk office, Meppadi grama panchayat office, and Vellarimalla village office, as well as via email to subcollectormndy@gmail.com.

After conducting a site inspection, the sub-collector will prepare a report on the complaints and submit it to the District Disaster Management Authority. The body the Collector leads will take a final call after meeting with the complainants.

The final list will be published by the District Disaster Management Authority within 30 days of the last date for receiving objections. Complaints and objections regarding the final list should be submitted to the Disaster Management Department.
