When Subrat Pani along with his close friend Gagan Maini took the startup plunge after years of their experience in corporate world, they decided to address a growing fear among a larger section of people – losing your smartphone or bank cards.

The duo set up their tech startup OneAssist in 2011 to solve the shortage of affordable and dependable protection plans for devices and gadgets we use every day.

The company has had phenomenal growth in the past decade, mainly through its smartphone and wallet protection plans, reaching over 2,00,000 active customers in 1,000+ cities.

The subscription plans help the users get their credit/debit cards blocked, locate and block lost phones, remotely erase all data from them to protect their privacy, and retrieve lost data, among other services.

Pani, an MBA from IIM Calcutta, ventured into the risky startup world with the experience he gained from his diverse roles in sales and distribution to CRM and product and portfolio management in corporate giants such as Godrej-GE, Arvind Mills and ICICI Bank.

Under Pani's leadership, OneAssist.in has grown rapidly, with the platform partnering with leading brands to offer exclusive assistance services to their customers. Pani's vision for OneAssist.in is to make life easier and more convenient for Indians.

Beyond OneAssist, Subrat is a dedicated mentor to early-stage startups, offering his expertise in go-to-market strategies, fundraising, and achieving Product-Market Fit (PMF). Pani will be speaking at a panel discussion on AI in Everyday Life: How Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the businesses we interact with?’ at the Manorama Online Techspectations 2025.
