Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam film director Nayana Suryan was found dead at her residence in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. She was 28.
An associate of acclaimed filmmaker late Lenin Rajendran, Nayana started her career through his 2011 flick 'Makaramanju'. She had also worked in Mammootty-starrer 'Utopiayile Rajavu' and Dr Biju's 'Akasathinte Niram'.
In 2017, she scripted and directed 'Pakshiyude Manam', featuring actors Mythili and Vijay Babu. It was part of an anthology of films titled 'Crossroad'. She had also directed numerous ad films and conducted stage shows across India.
Nayana Suryan was a native of Karunagappally in Kollam, Kerala.
She had been working as Lenin Rajendran's private secretary ever since he took charge as the chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation in 2016.
Reports said that she was very close to Lenin Rajendran and his demise, on January 14 this year at the age of 67, had affected her deeply.
Her friends reportedly broke into her house after she failed to respond to repeated calls. Though she was rushed to a hospital, she was declared brought dead.
Museum police have registered a case in this regard.
