Mahija | Photo: ScreengrabThiruvananthapuram: Mahija, the mother of Jishnu Pranoy who was found dead at the college hostel of Nehru Engineering College in Thrissur, says justice has been done to her son. She told mediapersons that she was leaving the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital with a feeling of triumph.
Mahija was admitted to the hospital after she sustained injuries in the police action against protesters seeking justice for Jishnu near the DGP's office last week. Her brother Sreejith, who also suffered injuries, left the hospital with her.
“I led the protest for my sister and I am happy to see her smiling like how she used to before Jishnu's death,” Sreejith told the reporters on Wednesday.
He asserted that his motive of bringing back the smile on his sister's face had succeeded. The family from Kozhikode had arrived in Thiruvananthapuram, seeking police action against those responsible for Jishnu's death.
Hiccups in meeting with CM
However, there still seems to be confusion regarding the scheduled meeting between the family and chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The CM's office told the media that the chief minister had granted an appointment to Jishnu's family. They have been asked to meet Pinarayi Vijayan on April 15, Saturday, at 10 am. However, the family asserts that they have not been officially told about any such meeting and came to know about it from media reports.
