Mumbai: Mumbai police have traced the CCTV footage of the attacker who stabbed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan multiple times during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence early Thursday morning and have formed ten teams to investigate the case.

According to preliminary findings, there were no signs of forced entry into Khan’s 12th-floor apartment in the Satguru Sharan building. Police suspect the intruder may have sneaked in earlier in the night and remained unnoticed until the attack, which occurred around 2.30 am and escaped using the staircase. CCTV visuals show the suspect descending to the sixth floor via the staircase after the incident. Police are reviewing additional footage to identify and track the individual.

Khan’s domestic help, who first raised the alarm, sustained a minor knife injury during the scuffle. She later filed a police complaint for trespassing and attempted murder. While the exact sections under which the First Information Report (FIR) has been registered have not been disclosed, the actor’s representatives have described the incident as a “burglary attempt.”

Khan, 54, was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery to remove a knife lodged in his spine. He is now stable and out of danger, hospital officials confirmed.

In response to the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that while the attack is serious, it is incorrect to label Mumbai as unsafe. “Mumbai remains the safest mega city in the country. This unfortunate incident is being thoroughly investigated, and the perpetrator will be brought to justice soon,” he said.

The investigation continues, with authorities combing through CCTV footage and questioning residents and staff at the building to piece together the sequence of events leading to the attack.
