Idli and dosa taste amazing when they are enjoyed with sambar and chutney. Even though sambar is a popular dish, children often stay away from the veggies in it. Here is how to make tasty sambar without adding veggies.

Ingredients
1 tomato
A palmful of shallots
Salt as required
A pinch of asafoetida
A pinch of fenugreek
2 dried chillies
Coconut oil as required
2 green chillies
¼ tsp mustard seeds

Preparation
Cook tomato, shallots, sambar powder, green chillies and salt with some water
in a pressure cooker
When this mixture cools down, blend in a mixer jar
Heat coconut oil in a pan
Splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek
Sauté red chillies and some chili powder if required
Add the tomato – shallots puree into it
Mix well
You could add more water if required
Allow the sambar to boil nicely on low flame
Enjoy this delicious sambar with idli and dosa.
