Ingredients
½ kg pumpkin
300 gms jaggery
1 cup rice flour
¼ cup yellow split dal
2 cups coconut milk
1 tsp cardamom powder
1 tbsp ghee

Preparation
Peel and cut the pumpkin into small pieces
Pressure cook the pumpkin pieces by adding 1 tbsp water
Take the cooked pumpkin, jaggery syrup and rice flour in a mixer jar
Blend well
Heat a thick bottomed vessel
Add the pumpkin puree and 1 cup water
Stir well
Cook on medium flame for 15 minutes
Lower the flame when this mixture boils and begins to thicken up
Add the coconut milk
Stir continuously until nicely thickened
After half an hour, add cooked yellow split dal and cardamom powder
Mix well
Cook until the kinnathappam separates from the vessel
Transfer the kinnathappam into a plate that is greased with ghee
Cut into small pieces after it has cooled down.
