A renowned chicken soup that is a prized one in the Arabic cuisine. Spiced mildly, the shorba is a very nutritive broth.
Ingredients
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
½ cup oats
3 small pieces chicken, chopped
Salt , as required
2 cloves
2 pieces of cinnamon
2 cardamom pods
4 cups water
2 tsp vegetable oil
A few coriander leaves
Preparation
Heat a wok and add oil, cardamom pods, cinnamon, cloves, onion and garlic. Saute well
Add chopped chicken pieces, chopped tomatoes, oats, and water
Stir well and bring this to boil
Then, cover it and reduce heat to simmer, cook till chicken pieces become tender and oats, mushy
Add salt and cook for 3 more minutes
Turn off the flame
Garnish with coriander leaves, and serve hot
