Onam spells nostalgia for Malayalees. Even for those who have no direct experience with seed or paddy cultivation, this festival of agricultural culture is the last word in celebration. Here are some of the latest songs composed to celebrate this year’s Onam.
‘Pon Chingatheru’
The music video ‘Pon Chingatheru’, capturing the spirit of Onam and sung by legendary singer K J Yesudas, is out. Mohanlal recently launched the music video at a special event organised at CIAL. The video was filmed in the Cochin International Airport. The single track written by Hariharan Puthuvathundil and composed by Nandu Kartha is the only Onam song that was sung by Yesudas this year. Actors Ramesh Pisharady and Manoj K Jayan and singers Sujatha Mohan and Vijay Yesudas attended the event.
'Onam Thiruvonam'
Onam Thiruvonamcomposed and sung by Alphons Joseph along with singers Fasil L J, Anu Thomas and Saawan Rithu is a visual treat. The lyrics have been penned ]by Sindhu Peter. The song soaked in nostalgia speaks about the arrival of the Maveli and the preparations for Onam.
‘Ishtam’ by Chitra
The special Onam song rendered beautifully by veteran singer KS Chitra is conquering the hearts of Malayalis all over the world. The album titled ‘Ishtam’ has been dedicated as a unique offering for Lord Guruvayurappan on the day of Thiruonam. Chitra’s love and adoration for the Lord is clearly expressed in the lines ‘Guruvayurethunnathu Ishtam…Kannane Kaanunnathere Ishtam.’
The song is composed by Vijesh Gopal whiles the lines are penned by Jeevan R Menon. The orchestration of the song was done by Jayaprakash Changanassery. Biju Annamanada created magic on veena while Biju Kottayam played the flute. Meanwhile, Anand is the tablaist. The song was beautifully picturised by Saji Bhaskaran and Vinu Nair.
The Onam song that has become quite viral perfectly captures the vibrant spirit of the festive season. Meanwhile, the music lovers cannot praise Chaitra enough for her soulful rendition of the song.
‘Manorama music’ Onam songs
Manorama music is once again back with beautiful melodies to usher in the fun and festivities of Onam. Unni Menon has beautifully sung 'Thumpa Nilav', composed by AK Sajan with simple lyrics by Prabhat Chavassery. Unni Menon's voice is sheer nostalgia for Malayalees. The song depicts a new generation man returning to his old ancestral home during Onam. Makku's screenplay was directed and framed by Bodhi. Editing by Sarin Ramakrishnan.
Madhu Balakrishnan's song Atham Pathinonam is also very heartwarming. Lyrics by Vishnudas Mutumana and the music is by Madhu Anchal. The song Varna Nila Poomazha is sung by CB Veliyathumalil, Sangeet Kurian, Diaz Jose, Shalini Sijo, Binu Nijo and Angel Sangeet. Lyrics and Music by Shinoj Mathew. Camera Viju Antony. The theme is Onam celebrations in the city.
Anu V Katammanitta sang the tunes of the beautiful Onam song Avani Maas written by C. Prasad Kumar. Joseph Mezhumeli's camera has beautifully captured the scenes set in the background of snake boats and other Onam imageries.
Thiruvonakkalam captures the essence of Onam
‘Thiruvonakkalam’ a new Onam special music album featuring Sachin Warrier and Sadhika has gone viral. Composed by Arjun B Nair, the songs are written by Manu Manjith and Balakrishnan.The song ‘Thumbapoovin Chellolam…’ is a beautifully written and composed melody that captures the essence of Onam. The song is getting great responses on social media. So the general opinion is that the song will catch your attention the minute you listen to it.
