Differently-abled students get a taste of IFFK vibe

Kochi: A group of children with disability have got a chance to feel the vibe of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) with the viewing room initiative organised as part of the 29th edition of the event. The movie titled ‘Kalam Standard 5B’ was screened for the students of Different Arts Centre on Thursday. The producer and actor of the movie, Tom Jacob, extended the invitation to the children to watch the film at the Tagore theatre.
Directed by Liju Mithran Mathew, Kalam Standard 5B was shot in Madhya Pradesh. The film deals with topics like nationality, family, identity crisis and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of the Different Arts Centre, highlighted the institution's commitment to inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of showcasing diverse and global films to its students.
He said that there is a dedicated theatre at the Different Arts Centre to screen films for the children. Different Arts Centre aims to empower differently abled children through training their talents in music, art, martial arts and much more.
The students were super excited as it was their first visit to the IFFK and said that they are looking forward to watching movies on the big screen. The 29th edition of IFFK focuses on intersectionality and inclusivity. As a part of this initiative, facilities for the differently abled like ramp and sign interpretations were provided at the festival.
