Chennai: The Southern Railway has announced special train services to Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam and back to manage the crowd during the Makaravilakku and Pongal holiday season. Makaravilakku is on January 14 this year. 
Thiruvananthapuram Central – Chennai Central special (06058)
The train starts at 4.25 am on January 15 from Thiruvananthapuram and arrives at Chennai at 11 pm. Meanwhile, Chennai's return service (06059) is at 1 am and reaches Thiruvananthapuram by 8 pm. There will be two second AC, three third AC, three third AC economy, six sleeper classes and two general compartments in the special train.

Meanwhile, it has stops at Varkala, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Mavelikkara, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur and Palakkad in Kerala. The train would also stop at the Peramboor station near Chennai.
Ernakulam Junction – Chennai Central special (06046)
The special train starts from Ernakulam at 6.45 pm on January 16 and reaches Chennai the next day at 8.30 am. Meanwhile, the Chennai – Ernakulam service (06047) departs at 10.30 am on January 17 and arrives at Ernakulam by 11 pm. The train with two second AC, five third AC, ten sleeper class and three general compartments will stop at Ernakulam Junction, Aluva, Thrissur and Palakkad stations in Kerala. Besides, it also has a stop at Peramboor near Chennai.
