Ever since the launch of Australia’s 'Work and Holiday visas', a wave of young adventurers has flocked to seize this exciting opportunity to explore the land of kangaroos. The subclass 462 visa has generated considerable interest, and applications are reportedly set to close on October 31. The visa permits a one-year stay, with the possibility of an extension for an additional year, enabling travellers to enjoy up to three years in this diverse and vibrant country. While soaking up Australia’s stunning landscapes, from the Great Barrier Reef to the Outback, visa holders can also pursue short-term studies for up to four months.
Moreover, those with a 'Work and Holiday' visa may apply for a second one, allowing for even more enriching experiences in this captivating destination. Besides India, the programme is also open to citizens of China and Vietnam. Here's what you should know about the programme. 

Main benefits of visa 
1) Travellers can stay for 12 months 
2) One can work for a short period
3) The recipient can study for up to four months 
4) Can leave and re-enter the country multiple times 
5) One can apply for a second Work and Holiday visa after working for the stipulated three months. 

Eligibility 
1) The applicant should hold a valid passport 
2) Must be between 18 and 30 years of age
3) Must be outside Australia while applying for the visa 
4) Should not be accompanied by dependents 
5) You should be a first-time applicant. Ensure you haven’t travelled to Australia with a subclass 462 or 417 visa. 

As per the revised visa policy of Australia, travellers from India, China and Vietnam can apply for the Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) under a ballot system, whereby the process is random and automated, in 2024-25. The visa permits the travellers to enjoy holidays, work and study for up to four months. Moreover, visa holders can enter and leave Australia multiple times.
